Dealing With the Dream Stealers

Do you have dream stealers in your life? You know, those people who think they are doing you a favor by ripping apart the "sense" of your aspirations and sharing you their "realistic" point of view? If your dreams are large enough, chances are you have people in your life that wants to keep you at their level.
It reminds me of the story about the crabs in a bucket. If you put one crab in a bucket, it will easily get out. However, if you put two crabs in the bucket, the second one will hold the first one back so it can't escape. (Mind you, I've never played with crabs before, but I can visualize this happening, and it makes sense to me.)
Your goals and desires are yours and yours alone. If you see yourself reaching the pinnacle of your personal and professional pursuits, you can achieve them. How many stories have you heard of people that went against the odds and achieved extraordinary success? How many more people do you know stuck in "woulda, coulda, shoulda" land? The "woulda, coulda, shouda's" will give you every excuse in the book as to why they didn't make it. Why they HAD to give up. How they just couldn't continue. They don't want to admit that they simply gave up.
Sometimes we have to make choices about the people in our lives. If you are not encouraged and supported with goals that you are totally passionate about, you may have to leave those people behind. When you are on the path to your destiny, you feel it down to the very core of your being. Your vocation is not right for everyone, but it's certainly right for you.
If you need to change your associations, try going where others with your same interest go. Meetup.com is a terrific place to start. You'll find kindred spirits - or at least people who know what the heck you're talking about.
I wanted to be a speaker for a long time, but I hadn't found the right topic. I had a career in sales, but I didn't want to talk about it in front of an audience. I had done some networking marketing, but again the industry didn't move me to share it with a crowd. When I started keeping a gratitude journal, and realized the phenomenal results and positive changes in my life, I knew that I had finally found my topic.
Gratitude inspires me to the core of my being. It's a magical, wonderful way of living, and it changes everything for the better. When we are grateful for what we already have, we open the door to attract more. Of course, the gratitude must be honest and true - there's no agenda in gratitude. There's only the heartfelt emotion of appreciation that brings joy into our lives. It works.
What is your passion? What spurs you on? What will you do TODAY to move closer to your goal? Take a teeny-tiny baby step today, and then one tomorrow. As you inch closer to your calling, you will meet with fabulous success in unexpected hours.
Have fun,
Lisa
If you're still not sure that your life purpose is, go into the silence, ask yourself the question, and LISTEN. Sooner or later, you will hear the voice of your inner guidance, and you will know.
